IVRCL Bags Rs.638.88 Cr. Orders

 IVRCL Ltd. announced that the Building Division (India and UAE), Transportation Division, Water Division and Irrigation Division of the company have bagged orders aggregating to Rs.638.88 crore.

The Building Division has bagged a EPC contract worth Rs.139.40 crore or AED 94 million from Z General Contracting LLC., Abu Dhabi, UAE, for construction and completion of the works for the Secondary Technical School – Umm Al Quwain, with a completion period of 9 months. The client for this project is Abu Dhabi Vocational Education & Training Institute (ADVETI).

The scope of includes total civil works including hard and soft landscaping, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, ELV systems, IPCCTV system, networking systems, plumbing, fire fighting, LPG and welding gas, building management system.

The Building Division has also secured another order for Rs.44.21 crore from Govt. of India Department of Space, Bangalore, for construction of integrated office building for ISRO at Sadiqnagar, New Delhi. The scope of work includes civil, PH, electrical, air-conditioning and other allied works and the completion period is 20 months.

Drake & Scull International bags Infrastructure EPC Projects in KSA and India

 Drake & Scull International PJSC (DSI), a regional market leader in the integrated design, engineering and construction disciplines of General Contracting, Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP), Water and Power, Rail and Oil and Gas, has announced that it has been recently awarded new infrastructure EPC contracts amounting to AED 385 million for a coal power plant in India, and complete Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning (EPCC) for the Information Technology and Communication Complex (ITCC) Auxiliary Works in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

DSI’s subsidiary in India has signed a AED 205 million contract with a private Energy company in India for the design, engineering, inspection, and delivery of a coal Conveyor system from a Mine Head to a Thermal Power Station in the state of Orissa on an EPC basis.

The contract for the ITCC Auxiliary works is valued at AED 180 million and will be jointly undertaken by Drake & Scull’s local Engineering and General Contracting divisions in KSA.

India’s solar PV installations increasing

 Indian PV capacity nearly doubles in 2012-2013. India installed 240 MW of grid-tied solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity during March 2013, according to the nation’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).

This is almost as much as Germany, which installed 290 MW of PV during March 2013. The nation also installed 16.9 MW of off-grid PV during the month, which brings India to 1.69 GW of cumulative on-grid and 125 MW of off-grid PV.

During this year Indian PV capacities nearly doubled, with 754 MW of new capacity installed. PV now represents 6% of all grid-tied renewable energy capacity in the nation.

India also installed 600,000 square meters of solar water heating collectors, to bring the nation to a cumulative total of 6.98 million square meters of collector area.

Gupta said that the lighting industry in India is witnessing a robust growth. The sector is projected to grow to Rs 8,000-12,000 crore in the next 5 years.

Among all the lighting technologies in India, LED lighting has been considered to be most emerging segment which is expected to grow at around 45% till 2015. The price of LED lighting systems has declined by 30% over the last two to three years due to improvement in technology.

Japanese AC makers to increase their share in the Indian market

 Japanese air conditioner (AC) manufacturer Daikin plans to have dealers in all Indian cities with at least 100,000 population. This is part of the company’s strategy to increase its share in the Indian market from 12 per cent to 20 per cent by 2015.

However, Daikin’s products – the HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) segment – would be priced about 5-10 per cent higher than that of others.

Other Japanese AC makers such as Panasonic and Hitachi have also made a strong inroad into the bulging AC market in India over the past couple of years.

According to industry sources, both Panasonic and Hitachi have maintained a steady growth in the AC market at the start of the summer this season. Cumulatively, they would have more than 15 per cent of the market till February 2013.
The room AC market have declined by about 5 per cent in 2012, however, Japanese AC makers have been growing at about 15-20 per cent per annum.

Drake & Scull wins Qatar MEP contract

 Contractor Drake & Scull International has won a $49m contract to deliver mechanical, electrical and plumbing works for a housing development in Qatar.

The company’s chief corporate affairs officer, Zeina Tabari, said further details of the contract will be released shortly. It added that a start on site was due to take place immediately and that work will complete during the fourth quarter of 2014.

Last month, the company announced three new project wins in Saudi Arabia and the UAE worth more than $100m.

IL&FS Engineering Services to Construct Integrated Multilevel Automated Car Parking Facility

IL&FS Engineering and Construction Company Limited has received a Letter of Intent (LoI) to construct Hyderabad’s first Integrated Multilevel Automated Car Parking facility for Charminar Robo Park Limited (an SPV company formed by Futureage Consortium) for a total value of Rs. 35.04 Crores at Khilwat in Hyderabad.

IL&FS Engineering Services was shortlisted as the preferred Contractor for this Lump Sum Turnkey (LSTK) contract. The period of completion is 14 months.

This Multilevel Automated Car Parking facility is a pioneering initiative taken by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to decongest parking spaces, and is the first one in Hyderabad. Once completed, this facility can accommodate 440 cars and 250 scooters in a fully automated fashion.

The scope of work includes Design & Engineering, Civil & Structural Works, Electrical Works, Interior Fit-Out Works, External Infrastructure Services & Landscape Works, HVAC Works, PHE Works, HT & LV System Works, etc.

Voltas to raise air conditioning sales target

 Tata Group company Voltas Ltd, India’s first maker of air-conditioning and refrigeration appliances, is gearing up for another scorching Indian summer, aiming to sell 10 lakh AC units in the current fiscal against eight lakh units last year.

”We have been growing at 20 per cent in the last few years and are confident of achieving such growth in the current fiscal too,” said Pradeep Bakshi, chief operating officer, unitary products business group, Voltas.

These figures were projected as Voltas introduced a new range of ‘all-weather’ ACs. ”We are looking to penetrate more into Tier-II and Tier-III towns and will be investing about Rs60 crore on marketing the product and making it available in these areas,” Bakshi said.

Voltas would look to maintain current prices, despite commodity prices going up. The company sells ACs, water dispensers and commercial refrigeration products under its UBHG business.

Ramky Infrastructure bags projects worth Rs 3.87 bn

 Ramky Infrastructure, an integrated construction and infrastructure development company in India, has bagged projects worth Rs 3.87 billion across the nation covering the states of Karnataka, West Bengal, Orissa and Andhra Pradesh covering water & waste water and building verticals.

In Andhra Pradesh, the company JV has been awarded a project valued Rs 1.38 billion from Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board for HMWSSB - KDWSP Phase III - design, construction, erection, testing and commissioning of water treatment plant of 410 MLD at Kndandapur at km 116/0 of Hyderabad- Nagarjunasagar state highway.

In Karnataka, the company has been awarded a project valued to Rs 633.2 million from Bangalore Water Supply & Sewerage Board, another project has been secured for Rs 466 million from Bangalore Water Supply & Sewerage Board for KMRP - providing Sewerages ystem to erstwhile Mahadevapura CMC area. The third project is bagged worth Rs 412.4 million from Bangalore Water Supply & Sewerage Board for providing sewerage system to erstwhile Kengeri TMC.

In West Bengal, the company has been awarded a project worth Rs 267.1 million from IRCON International for finishing works for indoor stadium under construction i.e. interior including flooring and seating arrangement, lift, acoustic, internal and external electrical, HVAC, water supply sestem, STP, etc. as per BOQ for new sports complex of Eastern RLY at Gholsapur, Kolkata, W.B.
